# Upload Mockup by PSD (Photoshop) file


Teeinblue supports creating mockups quickly by **uploading a Photoshop file (.PSD)**.

**All layers** from your PSD file will be uploaded and **kept in the correct positions**.  

| ✨ Especially: Teeinblue can **automatically detect printareas** based on Smart Object layers, so you don’t need to manually add and adjust printareas in Teeinblue.

If your Photoshop file contains a Smart Object layer with a printarea name, eg. "Front":

then Teeinblue can convert it to the "Front" printarea with the correct position as in the Photoshop file:

Let's go through the steps below.

## 🔍 How Print Areas Are Detected

Teeinblue looks for **Smart Object layers** in your PSD file and applies the following detection rules:

1. **Layer name matches a print area name**  
* Either the **Display name** or **Fulfill name** of the print area. (eg. "Front", "Left sleeve", "70x100cm"...)

2. **Layer name contains one of these generic keywords:**  `Printarea`  / `Artwork`  / `Design`  / `Default`  / `Front` / `Back`

## 🧩 How to create a Smart Object in Photoshop

To create a Smart Object:
* In Photoshop, go to "**File**" menu → "**Place Embeded**" → select an image (any image will do) → it will be added as a Smart Object
* Or if you have an existing image in your photoshop file → just right-click on the layer → **Convert to Smart Object**
* Rename the layer (double-click on the layer name) according to the detection rules above so Teeinblue can recognize it as a printarea

The Smart Object always displays this small icon on the layer thumbnail:

|| The Smart Object **must be an image**. Vectors or shapes converted into Smart Object cannot be detected.  


### Adjusting Smart Object Position

You can adjust the Smart Object size and position by using **Free Transform**
* Select the Smart Object layer
* Go to "**Edit**" menu → "**Free Transform**" (or press Ctrl+T/Cmd+T)
* Scale up or down as needed
* ITo distort freely: **right-click** on the layer (while still in Free Transform mode) → **Distort **→ then you can move each corner anchor

* Teeinblue will automatically **enable perspective** of the printarea to match the Smart Object's four corners

|| Should not transform the Smart Object into a ratio too different from the printarea to avoid distorting the design.
For example, if the printarea of a mug is landscape-oriented, you should transform your image to a similar landscape ratio.

## ⚙️ Convert to Print Area

When a valid Smart Object layer is detected, Teeinblue will display an exclamation icon as a **suggestion to convert the layer to a printarea**.

If you click **Convert to Printarea**:  
* **Case 1: Layer name matches a print area name**  
  → Automatically converts to that print area.  
  *Example: The layer name is “Front” → converted to the first “Front” print area.*  

* **Case 2: Layer name is generic (Printarea / Artwork / Design / Default)** or cannot find the matching printarea
  → Teeinblue will show an option to choose which print area to map it to.

Once converted, the print area will be placed in the **exact position** of the Smart Object:  
* Perspective enabled  
* Four corners aligned with the original layer in Photoshop

## 🧩 Auto-import masks from Photoshop

In some cases, you might need to use a mask in Teeinblue to crop the printarea to a custom shape. Teeinblue can detect the **mask** in your Photoshop file and convert it into a Teeinblue mask with the correct size and position.

You can create a mask in Photoshop in 2 ways:
* **Use a clipping mask**: place the image you want to use as a printarea above the mask image → right-click on the printarea layer → **Create Clipping Mask**

* (for Photoshop's advanced users) **Add a layer mask:**

Then after converting the image into a printarea in Teeinblue, its mask will be automatically added and placed exactly as it appears in Photoshop:

|| If using masks, avoid distorting the printarea image in Photoshop because the mask shape will also distort after converted in Teeinblue.


And Done!
