Multiple Uploads for GenAI Effects

What is Multiple Uploads?

Photo Upload now comes in two types:

  • Single Upload (renamed original behavior) - only accept one uploaded photo.
  • Multiple Uploads - let your buyers upload more than one photo and have a GenAI effect combine them into one final image — for example, merging photos of the same person at different ages, or combining photos of several family members into one design.

A GenAI effect is currently required for Multiple Uploads to combine all uploaded photos into one output image. Support for multiple separate output images (like a photo collage) is coming soon.

Behavior on the Storefront

  • Buyers tap on the + button to upload (a) photos. They can select multiple photos at once, or upload one by one. Unlike "Single Upload", the + button still appears to upload more photos.
  • Buyers can remove (X) or drag-reorder, then click Generate image and wait for the AI services to return the combined photo.

How to set up a Multiple Uploads layer

  • Open an Artwork (only in Artwork 2.0): in layer picker, select Photo Upload → choose Multiple Uploads.

  • Output Type: currently only Single Output is available (Multiple Outputs, like photo collages, is coming later)
  • Maximum photos: set how many photos a buyer can upload, up to a limit of 3 (GenAI services work best with 3 or fewer input images)
  • Upload editor: choose Direct Upload or Photo Reposition (Photo Cropper is not supported for Multiple Uploads).
  • GenAI service: pick the AI provider (OpenAI, Gemini, Flux...) — required for this layer
  • Fit mode: same as Single Upload — controls how the combined output image fits the layer
  • Show customer's photo on live preview: same as Single Upload — shows/hides the result on the live preview before checkout
  • Set minimum size: same as Single Upload, but applies to every photo the buyer uploads, not just one
  • Add instruction for customer: same as Single Upload — text shown to guide buyers on what to upload
  • You can translate the "Generate image" button in Product Page ContentGenerate Image Buttons
