Global Options - Reuse options across artworks

What is Global Options?

Global Options is a centralized library system designed to streamline how you configure and maintain customization options across your store. Instead of manually creating the same options for every individual artwork, you can now define them once in a central library and link them to as many layers as you need.

Why use Global Options?

  • Centralized Control: Manage and edit your options from a single source. If you need to update a setting or change a option title, you only have to do it once, and those changes will automatically updated to every layer linked to that option.
  • Time-Saving Efficiency: Eliminate repetitive setup workload. Build your library of standardized options and apply them to new artworks in seconds.
  • Enhanced Buyer Experience: The system intelligently carries over buyer selections. If a customer chooses a specific value (such as a Custom Name layer, or a Clipart file) in one campaign, that selection is remembered and automatically applied when they visit another campaign that utilizes the same Global Option.

How to Create a Global Option

In this Article, we will walk you through the fundemental of it.

You can find this section under Assets > Global Options

Before we begin, imagine this Global Options section as your centralized design library. Instead of recreating options from scratch every time you start a new artwork, you are building a library of pre-configured options that can be reused infinitely.

Here's the key points of the Global Options:

  • The Master Template: This library acts as the single source of truth. Because these options are stored as library assets rather than local settings, they carry a global scope. When you need to adjust an option, like change the Option Title of a Text Layer, or change the Clipart Directory of an option, you only update the library asset here once. Every campaign currently using that asset will inherit the update automatically.

  • Keep Your Workflow Clean: As you add more Campaigns/Artworks, managing individual settings for each Artworks can become very frustrating. By using this library, you stop creating the same options over and over again. This can help optimize your workflow and removes the workloads of maintaining dozens of settings spread across different artworks.

Keep in mind that creating a Global Option only sets up the customization field itself, which is what your customers will see on the Customization Form. At this stage, no layers are connected to it. You are simply building the "input" first; you can freely link any layers to this option later while you are creating your Artwork.

With that in mind, please follow these steps to create your Global Options:

  • Navigate to Assets > Global Options > click on + Global Options button > and select the options you want to create.

  • In this example, let's start with the Photo Upload option

You can set an internal name for your Global Option here. Pick a name that is clear and easy for you to remember, as you will be selecting this option frequently later on for other Artworks.
For example, if you label it [Photo Canvas], you can quickly find and apply it to all your various Poster or Canvas campaigns later on.

You should find the rest of the settings here very familar. Once you're done with creating your Global Option, be sure to save it.

Adding Global Options to Artwork

Inside your Artwork Editor, click on + Layer button, then select Photo Upload

  • Inside Layer Settings, please select Use an existing global option and select the Global Option you created at earlier step.

If you want a customer’s Photo to appear in multiple spots on the same artwork, you don't need to create separate options for each one.
Simply create your first photo layer and link it to your Global Option. From there, you can copy and paste that layer as many times as you like. Because all those copied layers are linked to the same Global Option, the photo the customer uploads once will automatically populate every single one of those layers.

As you can see in the above image, there is only one form element for the Pet Photo layer.

At this step, please keep in mind that every changes you make to the Global Option, will be automatically applied to all of these layers.

  • Once you're done, please save the Artwork and launch your Campaign!

Behavior on the Storefront

Global Options aren't just for your backend, they are designed to create a smoother, faster shopping experience for your Customers. When a Customer uses a Global Option, the system intelligently tracks their choices.

There are two main ways this improves the buyer experience:

  • Instant Sync Within the Same Campaign: If you have multiple layers in one campaign linked to the same Global Option, for example, a photo that needs to appear in four different spots on a design, the Customers only needs to upload it once. As soon as they upload that photo, it automatically syncs and fills every linked layer in that campaign instantly.

  • Seamless Carry-over Between Campaigns: If a buyer interacts with a Global Option in one campaign, and then navigates to another campaign that uses that same Global Option, their previous choice is already waiting for them. Because the system remembers their selection, they don't have to re-upload or re-select anything, which significantly boosts the likelihood of them completing multiple purchases in one session.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If I update a Global Option, does it affect live orders?

No. Updating a Global Option only affects the setup for future customers who open the campaign. Existing orders that have already been placed are locked in with the data captured at the time of purchase.

Yes. You can unlink a layer at any time within the Artwork Editor. Once unlinked, that layer will revert to being a standalone layer, and you can then set it to a local option or keep it as a static element.

What happens if I delete a Global Option?

If a Global Option is being used in any Artwork, you cannot delete it.

Do I have to use Global Options for everything?

Not at all. You can still use local options for unique elements that only appear in one specific artwork. Global Options are a tool for efficiency; use them for your recurring, standardized settings.

What if I want a layer to use the same input but have different layout settings?

You can link multiple layers to the same Global Option, and each layer will still respect its own individual settings, like position, size, or rotation, within the Artwork Editor. The "Global" part handles the data (the photo or text), but the design placement remains unique to each layer.
