Upsell your product design with Addon Charge (additional charge)
What is Addon Charge
Addon Charge is an element in the personalization form that can help you offer some addon features to your customers to increase order value.
When customers select an option in Addon Charge, it'll add an extra fee to the line item price.

Charge method
Addon Charge supports two charge methods:
- Add a separate addon item to the cart (default): each option is linked to a Shopify variant. The main product and addon appear as separate items in the cart and checkout. Existing Campaigns keep this behavior.
- Adjust the item price directly: each option has a Price, set separately for each store. The charge increases the main item's price without adding a separate addon item. No addon product is needed for this method.
For example, a $30 shirt with a $5 “Size XXL” option appears as one $35 item in the cart and checkout.
Set up direct price adjustments
- In Teeinblue Portal > Artworks > open an Artwork > edit the Addon charge Layer > Personalization Settings > Create a new option > Charge method, select Adjust the item price directly.

- In Teeinblue Portal > Artworks > open the Artwork > edit the Addon charge Layer > Personalization Settings > Option values, click Add next to an option's Price (or Edit for an existing price).

In the Price popup, click Add next to the target store and enter the extra amount in that store's currency. Click Close. Repeat for other options or stores, then click Save & Close in the Artwork editor.

Notes for direct price adjustments
- With multiple selections (checkboxes), the charge is the total price of the selected options. It also adds to Charge by character count on the same product.
- An option is free if its price is blank, zero or negative, or if no price is set for the current store.
- When option prices are displayed, the option label includes the extra amount, such as +$5.
- For an Addon Charge Global Option, the Global Option determines the charge method. The same Global Option reused across Layers or Artworks is charged only once.
- Switching charge methods preserves attached variant settings for when you switch back.
How to add a separate addon item
The steps below use Add a separate addon item to the cart. Shopify product and variant requirements in this section apply to that method.
1. Create a Shopify product
We need a Shopify product to add it to cart for extra charges.
- Go to your Shopify admin > Products > Create a new product.

- In the variants list, create the variants representing the additional charges you offers. For example: variant "1 name" - $5, variant "2 names" - $10, variant "3 names" - $15...

2. Add option in Artwork
- Go to Artwork editor, click on "+ Layer" button > Addon Charge

- It'll create a new layer with no image (same as "Additional option"), only show up in the personalization form.

- Edit that "Addon charge" layer.
- Set an "Option title" and the extra charges in "Option values"

- Click on "Attach charge" button to connect each option with a Shopify variant. Then when customers select an option, it'll add to cart the attached variant for extra charge.

- Select the product you created in step 1 and select the correct variant to charge for this option.

- Then click "Attach" to link the variant to this option.

- Do the same for other options in the Addon charge.

- (optional) Set condition to only display some layers if the "Addon charge" matches the correct option.
For example: the 3rd name only appears when "Addon charge" = "+1 name"

- Then when customers choose an "Addon charge" option and add to cart the main product, the attached "Extra charge" variant will be added along.

3. Other settings
You can turn off the price attached to each option in Store settings > Product page settings > Addon Charges
